We teach with a flexible structure to suit the student. We use a combination of prescriptive exercises and goal tracking, along with keeping information bite-sized and engaging to ensure students of all ages see the results they want on a daily basis. We listen to student concerns and maintain an encouraging attitude. If you're not having fun with it, it's not really "playing" music. Our students find themselves very capable in a short time.
Classes are available for the most popular instruments, as well as some exotic instruments, special one-off courses, music tech courses like recording, production, and sound design, and group projects like our Rock Band program. We're always adding new courses.

Richard Green has been playing music for nearly as long as he could walk, with his first paying gigs being in his pre-teen years, even being invited to the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 10 after playing piano in a home town festival. From his early teens, he's played countless shows as lead guitarist and vocalist in several bands, and served as a studio musician and session guitarist for many more. Richard's solo projects include everything from programming tracker software for primitive computer music to progressive metal, and even full symphonic compositions. Richard performs and programs all parts to his projects, though he prefers to collaborate with other artists. In college, he performed both in the US and abroad as a solo classical guitarist and with chamber art groups, ensembles, and guitar orchestras. It was during this time that he had the opportunity to meet, study, and perform with some of the foremost masters of the guitar, including the Romero Family, The LAGQ's Bill Kanengiser and Scott Tenant, Shingo Fuji, and the late Roland Dyens. Richard was classically trained in piano from the age of 9 and has since learned to play a wealth of instruments including Organ, Violin, Erhu, Dizi, Bouzouki, Mandolin, Trumpet, Tuba, Percussion, and more. He's been a professional composer and sound designer for video game soundtracks. A music major, performer, composer, producer, and greatly experienced teacher, his relentless passion for music and sharing it with others is contagious.

This is probably one of the toughest pills to swallow, but it all depends on how much you spend time practicing at home. If you're not feeling so self-motivated, consider a couple lessons/week. We have deals for that. If you stick to the practice routines you are given in class, you can rest assured that you'll make surprisingly rapid progress with as little as 15 minutes, 3 or more days/week. Our students are typically playing something they enjoy by the second week!
All ages! We ask that they be old enough to feed themselves. 5-years-old is a good reference age. Some kids don't quite have the focus until a little later but it doesn't mean they don't have what it takes in any way. I didn't start in lessons until I was 9, but I've got some very successful students who started around the age of 4. We've even had students that were over 60 years young!
I'm going to give you a different answer than you've probably heard before, because while we do hold degrees in music and professional performance experience, I've seen too many amazing musicians with amazing accolades who were just not great at teaching. It takes a whole separate set of skills to be an effective teacher. In fact, my first job as a music teacher was just after junior college and I remember being amazed at how little the head instructor/owner of the school knew about music! However, I can't say that I was the best teacher, despite my knowledge. Years of experience have made me the teacher I am today. So while music education is very important to us, the quality of instruction is paramount.
